Students’ perception of 25% Extra Time as a Reasonable Adjustment

Overview

Exam boards and awarding organisations allow disabled students to have reasonable adjustments in their exams (you may call them ‘access arrangements’) to reduce or remove disadvantage caused by their disability. One type of adjustment is extra time to complete exams.

We are very keen to hear all students’ views on time in exams or tests, whether or not you personally get extra time or any other reasonable adjustment in your exams. This research is intended to help us understand how students use and feel about time they and others have in exams, with a view to publish our findings in the future. This survey is for people who have sat at least one GCSE, AS, A level, VTQ, BTEC or Functional Skills exam or test in the past 12 months.

This survey will close at 11.59pm on 9th of January 2023.

What happens next

The results of this research will be summarised in a report which will be made available to the public. Any information you provide will be treated confidentially by Ofqual and used simply to inform general reporting of findings from of the research.
